Rootless Movie Set

Rootless Behind the Scenes documents the creative process of independent filmmaking, capturing the contrast between light and shadow, joy and tension that defines both the film's narrative and the collaborative energy of bringing a story to life. I was brought on to document this short film production, creating a visual archive of the filmmaking process while occasionally stepping into scenes as well. I wanted to create a dynamic range of the production—from moody, atmospheric moments that reflect the film's emotional depth to lighter scenes filled with the collaborative spirit and creative energy of the cast and crew. The photography tells the story of storytelling itself through behind-the-scenes compositions that reveal the craft and artistry happening between takes, candid moments that capture the connections forming on set, and atmospheric shots that mirror the film's tonal shifts between darkness and hope.
